Packing Heat 035: Keeping Time
| Download | Duration: 00:35:06
It's a new year. Time to look at your work patterns and see where you can use your time better.
Does your current day planner function the way you need it to? Why not take a new system for a spin?
Paper
The hipster PDA is nothing more than a stack of 3x5 cards. Here's some info on 43 Folders.
Or maybe you'd rather tweak a planner to have more of the stuff you use and less of the stuff you don't use, then print it out. Here are some customizable templates.
Digital Calendars
If you have a Mac or iPod/iPhone, you've already got iCal.
What about Google Calendar? It's free.
To-Do Lists
Ah, here's where my research ended up, because I found I think more in terms of tasks than appointments.
Remember the Milk
TaDa List
Toodledo (this one was my favorite. Sign up through this special link if you choose to check it out.)
Dashboards
What if you want a portable work environment with gadgets such as timers, to-do lists, dictionaries and word counters? Mac users have a built in dashboard.
Here was a cool counter widget I found for that.
But there are cross platform, web based dashboards, too.
iGoogle
Netvibes
Try out the system you gravitate toward the most, and if it doesn't quite work for you, think about how you can tweak it so that it would.

You gave me some good ideas to try out.

I'm glad! I'm still loving Toodledoo. Its "folders" feature lets me divide my tasks into "work" "home" "writing" and "publishing," which is really useful.
