Packing Heat 029: Self-Consciousness

Hope you got something out of my "20 things" listmaking suggestion. I read The Anvil of the World and I enjoyed it so much that I made a "20 Things I Liked About the Book" list so that I could think about my likes as I wrote my own fiction.

Channeling Morpheus
Channeling Morpheus is doing well. Story #4 received a Golden Blush award from Literary Nymphs, and Uniquely Pleasurable gave a stunner of a review to the series.

I've been nominated in several categories for the REC awards:
Gay Best Sex Scene
Gay Cover of the Year
Gay Short Story of the Year
Gay Author of the Year
Gay Best Male Character
Gay Novel of the Year

Guilt #3 - Self-consciousness
Many new writers see themselves in the stories much like an actor in a film. You're not the actor, though. No one's gonna recognize you at Starbuck's and hound you for an autograph. You're somewhere off-camera. You're the director. I'll give you some analogies to remove the "you" from your characters, which is quite freeing.

Here are some links to blog posts which underscore that readers care about the characters and stories, rather than the writer:
