• Can you trim your beginning and ending?
• Does your word choice match your intended audience?

Your assignment for next week:
Look at something you've already written and see if you can trim off your beginning. Do you start by explaining a setting? Maybe you can trim the exposition out and tuck it in later on, after the reader's already involved with your story. Same thing goes for the ending. You can end on one powerful image; you don't have to tie everything up in a bow.
